Operating Conditions
Operating range is limited by valve body and seal materials, not the actuator. Spring-return fails to safe position on air loss.
Actual ratings depend on size, material and operating conditions. Confirm via RFQ for project-specific requirements.

Common Questions
Engineering and procurement questions we hear most often. For project-specific guidance, send your application details via RFQ.
Double-acting (DA) uses air pressure for both opening and closing — faster cycle times and better control at higher torque, but requires air supply for both directions.
Spring-return (SR) uses air for one direction only; spring returns the valve on air loss — fail-safe operation critical for safety applications.
Sizing depends on valve break-away torque, differential pressure, media viscosity and required cycle speed. Typical safety factor: 1.5× peak running torque.
For ball valves: lower torque, smaller actuators. For butterfly valves at high ΔP: higher torque, larger actuators. Provide line conditions for accurate sizing.
Standard: 5–7 bar (72–100 psi) clean, dry, oil-free instrument air. Filtration to 5 μm minimum, dew point at least 10°C below ambient.
Lubrication is NOT required for clean service. Provide cycles/hour for compressor sizing and air consumption calculation.
Common: solenoid valve, limit switches (open/close feedback), positioner (modulating control), and air filter-regulator-lubricator (FRL).
For automated systems: 24VDC solenoid + inductive limit switches is most common. For modulating: 4–20 mA positioner with feedback.
Standard actuators are not ATEX-certified. For hazardous areas, specify ATEX-rated solenoid valves, switches and positioners.
Provide hazardous area classification (zone, gas group, temperature class) with RFQ. Complete ATEX-certified assemblies available.
Spring-return (SR) actuators automatically return to a fixed position (open or closed) on air loss. Specify "Fail Closed" (FC) or "Fail Open" (FO) based on safety analysis.
For critical safety applications, also specify dual coil solenoids, position monitoring, and air-fail accumulators if instantaneous failsafe action is required.
Standard rack-and-pinion actuators provide 1,000,000+ cycles in clean dry air service.
Cycle life depends on air quality, operating frequency and seal material. Track cycle count via control system for predictive maintenance.
